DEAUVILLE SPORT IMAGES FESTIVAL

DEAUVILLE SPORT IMAGES FESTIVAL

1st Edition, 2025

INTENTION

Mathieu Forget approaches the Deauville Sport Images Festival as a playground where sport becomes a visual language. Here, performance gives way to gesture, suspension, to that split second when the body enters into dialogue with space. It is within this in-between, between balance and fall, tension and lightness, that his work comes to life.

Through his images, he develops a writing of movement, almost choreographic, where architecture becomes a partner and the body a poetic anchor point. Each jump, each line, each silence expresses a way of inhabiting the world.

Presenting his work in Deauville means placing this exploration within a broader resonance: that of the image as a sensitive memory of sport, but also as a space for aesthetic experimentation. The festival becomes a place of circulation for perspectives, emotions and interpretations, where photography, movement and contemporary creation meet and extend one another.

EXHIBITION

On the occasion of the Deauville Sport Images Festival 2025, Mathieu Forget presents an exhibition in which sport reveals itself as a fully-fledged artistic act. At the crossroads of photography, performance and architecture, his work offers a sensitive reading of the body in motion and its relationship to space.

Paris 2024 transformed the city into an immense playground. I moved through its lines, volumes and voids to inscribe the moving body within it, capturing that moment when sport resonates with urban space. My work explores tension, balance, elevation, those moments when the athlete seems to challenge gravity as much as the surrounding environment.

Through this series, he goes beyond the simple representation of performance to reveal its aesthetic and emotional dimension. Bodies become lines, gestures extend the architecture, and each image suspends time to reveal the strength, fragility and poetry of movement.

The exhibition invites viewers to see sport differently, as a space of freedom, expression and contemporary imagination.
