For the third edition of The Maker sProject, Mathieu Forget collaborated with The Balvenie, one of Scotland’s most renowned whisky makers, to create a unique artistic dialogue between two worlds of craftsmanship — whisky making and dance.
Traveling to the distillery in Scotland, Mathieu met the artisans behind The Balvenie to immerse himself in their process and understand the precision, patience, and rhythm that define their craft. Over the course of a three-day shoot, he discovered striking similarities between the choreography of movement in dance and the repetition of gestures essential to whisky making — each a performance born from passion, mastery, and dedication.
This collaboration culminated in a short film, a short documentary; a photographic series, and an immersive video projection showcased at Le Royal Monceau in Paris during a press and media event. The project celebrated the shared pursuit of excellence between the worlds of art and craftsmanship, honoring The Balvenie’s “Makers” through Mathieu Forget’s artistic lens.
In 2025, the film was awarded the bronze prize at the Cérémonie des 38es Grands Prix de la Communication, recognizing the project’s ability to capture authenticity, artistry, and emotion within a shared creative vision.
